License

Last updated: June 5, 2026

Overview

This License governs your access and use of the TabSlate browser extension, companion web applications, and associated software components ("Software"). By installing, activating, or using TabSlate, you agree to comply with the terms of this License.

TabSlate is developed with a clear commitment to modular licensing. We distinguish between open-source community versions and proprietary cloud integrations to ensure developers, self-hosters, and enterprise clients all have optimal paths.

Permitted Uses

Subject to your compliance with these terms, TabSlate grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-sublicensable, revocable, and non-transferable license to:

  • Install and run the TabSlate Chrome Extension on your personal or corporate web browsers.
  • Use the cloud-based synchronization features in accordance with your registered subscription plan levels.
  • Access and utilize the self-hosted free server version in accordance with the terms provided in the respective repository.

Restrictions

Under this commercial service license, you are strictly prohibited from engaging in the following behaviors without our explicit written consent:

  • Modifying, copying, or distributing proprietary elements of TabSlate Cloud, including private Go modules, billing providers, and commercial landing pages.
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, or attempting to extract the underlying source code of our hosted API server.
  • Sublicensing, renting, leasing, or reselling our cloud synchronization services to third parties.
  • Bypassing subscription keys or license verification algorithms to unlock premium quotas.
  • Using the AGPL-licensed TabSlate-server backend to operate a paid commercial synchronization service (i.e., charging end users for access to a hosted instance) without a separate commercial license from TabSlate. Personal and organizational self-hosting for non-commercial purposes is permitted under AGPL-3.0.

Intellectual Property

Open Source Components: Both the TabSlate Chrome extension and the backend server (TabSlate-server) are released under AGPL-3.0. Self-hosting is permitted under the terms of that license.

Proprietary Service Elements: The TabSlate-Cloud private repository, proprietary Flexprice billing adapters, cloud infrastructure assets, and commercial landing pages are strictly proprietary and remain the exclusive intellectual property of TabSlate. All rights not explicitly granted herein are reserved.

Termination

This License remains in effect until terminated by either party. You may terminate it at any time by deleting your account and uninstalling the Software from all your devices.

Your commercial service license will terminate automatically and without notice if you fail to comply with any restrictions outlined in this agreement, default on subscription payments, or breach the terms of our service infrastructure. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the cloud-enabled features.
