Archive & Trash
The difference between reversible archiving and the Trash's path to permanent deletion.
Archive: reversible removal from active work
Archiving takes a collection (and the bookmarks inside it) out of your active workspace view without deleting anything. Archived items live in the dedicated Archive view, where you can Restore them back to active use at any time, or send them on to Move to Trash.
Saved groups don't have an archive step. Deleting a saved group sends it straight to Trash — there's no in-between "archived" state for groups the way there is for collections and bookmarks.
Trash: the path to permanent deletion
Trash holds trashed collections, bookmarks, and saved groups together in one place. From there, each item can be Restored back to where it came from, or removed permanently — one at a time, or all at once with Empty Trash.
Permanent deletion — from Trash, or from Workspace management's Delete permanently — cannot be undone. Restoring is only possible before that step.
Workspaces follow their own lifecycle
Workspaces aren't archived or trashed through the sidebar's Archive and Trash views at all. Deleting a workspace moves it to a separate Deleted list inside Workspace management, where it can likewise be restored or permanently deleted — see Workspaces & Collections for the guard that keeps you from deleting the workspace you're currently in.
Trash and Workspace management both show how long a retained item has before automatic permanent deletion, based on your account's current plan — check Settings → Plan & Quotas for the specifics that apply to your account.
