Ways to save a bookmark

TabSlate gives you several ways to save the page you're on, all landing in the same place — a collection in your active workspace:

  • From the new tab dashboard: drag an open tab from the tabs view onto a collection in the sidebar, or click Add Bookmark in the header to add one manually by title and URL.
  • From the popup: click the TabSlate toolbar icon, pick a collection, optionally add tags, and click Save Bookmark.
  • From the right-click context menu: choose Save to TabSlate on a page, a link, or selected text — it saves without opening the dashboard at all.

Dragging a tab onto a collection that already has that URL saved flags it as a duplicate instead of creating a second copy.

What gets captured

A saved bookmark stores the page's title, its URL, and its favicon automatically. A description is optional and, depending on how you saved it, comes from the page's own meta description, or from whatever text you had selected when you used the right-click context menu — selected text takes priority over the meta description when both are available. Saving manually through Add Bookmark leaves the description blank unless you type one in.

Organizing what you've saved

  • Collections: every bookmark belongs to exactly one collection in its workspace; you can reassign it later.
  • Tags: attach one or more tags for cross-collection filtering — create a new tag inline while saving, or manage tags from the sidebar.
  • Favorites: star a bookmark to pin it in the dedicated Favorites view, separate from its collection.
  • Grid or list: switch the bookmarks view between a grid of cards and a compact list, and sort by date added or alphabetically.

Duplicate bookmarks aren't merged automatically outside of drag-and-drop detection — saving the same URL twice through different paths (popup vs. manual add, for example) creates two separate entries.
