Search
How TabSlate's search box and global overlay order results and fall back to the web.
Searching from the dashboard
Type into the search box in your workspace to look across three sources, in this order:
- Open tabs — matched by title or URL across every browser window.
- Bookmarks — matched within your active workspace, including archived bookmarks (shown with an Archived badge); trashed bookmarks are excluded.
- Search the web — a fallback row that sends your query to your browser's default search engine.
Search needs at least two characters typed before it starts matching tabs or bookmarks. Below that, only the web-search fallback is available.
Searching from any site
The same three-part search is also available as a global overlay you can summon without switching back to a TabSlate tab first — press Ctrl+Shift+K (Command+Shift+K on macOS).
This only works on sites where you've granted the optional overlay permission. See Browser Permissions for what that permission covers and how to turn it on or off from Settings.
Bookmark search minimum
Bookmark results (in both the dashboard search box and the global overlay) come from a server-side lookup, which also only runs once your query reaches two characters — matching the same threshold used for tabs, so nothing searches on a single character.
