Saved Groups
Turning a Chrome tab group into a reusable set of tabs you can close and reopen later.
Saving a group
From a Chrome tab group's card in the Tabs view, choose Save as Group. TabSlate records the group's current tabs, name, and color as a saved group — a separate, reusable copy that keeps existing even after you close the original tabs or dissolve the live Chrome group.
Saving as a group is different from Save as Collection, which turns the group's tabs into bookmarks instead. A saved group stays a group you can reopen as tabs; a collection stays a set of bookmarks.
The group detail page
Open a saved group from the sidebar's Groups section to reach its detail page, where you can:
- Rename the group and change its color.
- Toggle Compact to switch how its title displays when reopened in Chrome (see Tabs & Chrome Groups).
- Add or remove tabs — drag more tabs onto the group to add them, or remove individual tabs from the list.
- Save as Collection to also keep the group's tabs as bookmarks.
- Reopen the group as live Chrome tabs, or delete it.
Workspace-scoped, restorable from Trash
A saved group belongs to the workspace it was saved in and only appears while that workspace is active — switching workspaces takes you back to the Bookmarks view if you were viewing a group that no longer belongs to the one you switched to.
Deleting a saved group moves it to Trash rather than erasing it outright. From there it can be restored — bringing back its full tab list — or permanently deleted, which cannot be undone.
